Flatter Your Body Not Faulter

In a world of ever-changing trends, knowing what to wear can be a challenge. We all come in different shapes, fashion is all about dressing your body; how do we make sure we are wearing outfits that will flatter our unique body type? Getting dressed is a whole lot easier when you know what pieces work best for your shape. The key is to know your proportions and use fashion to accentuate your best features; and hide everything else!

First step is to know what type of body you have. There are different categories of classifying the shape of a woman, but the most common are; Apple, Rectangular, Pear, Hourglass and Wedge.

The Apple Shape

If you have this body type then you want to elongate your midsection and create the illusion of a smaller waist. You should also emphasize your legs, draw attention away from your waist and shoulders/arms, and draw attention to your neck (e.g. v-necks). Choose flared trousers over straight or skinny trousers, it helps balance out wide shoulders and/or a heavy upper body. If you don’t want to draw attention to your chest, avoid necklaces and wear chunky bangles instead. You should also wear plain colours up and go for patterned and colourful bottoms. For curves, handles, or lumps that you’d prefer to hide, wear solid dark colours over them.

The Rectangular Shape

In this body type, the waist is about the same as hips, more like a cylinder; if you have this body type, you can “pinch” your waist and exaggerate curves to avoid looking lanky or boyish. Opt for styles that fit closely at your middle but flare out at the bottom to create curves. Your best assets are your legs and arms and you want to create curves where they don’t necessarily exist. Go for ruffles and frills to add texture and volume to your figure. Steer clear of baggy clothes, dresses that are tight all over and anything too flowy or unstructured around the waist.

The Pear Shape

With this body type you should minimize attention on your lower half and focus attention upward. DO try a-line skirts which camouflage wider hips, experiment with light-coloured tops and dark-coloured bottoms for contrast. If you’re pear-shaped and you are short (or have short legs), wear straight-leg or slightly flared trousers with heels. Skinny trousers that hug your ankles can make your lower body take on the appearance of an upside-down triangle.

The Wedge Shape

This body shape features a broad chest and wide shoulders which are large in proportion to a narrow waist and hip. Accentuate your lower body while softening your shoulders and upper body; your asset is your legs. Avoid bright colours on bottom, spaghetti-strap and boat neckline tops. Do wear bright colours on bottom, wide-leg pants, full skirts, tops that call attention to your waistline and look for clothes that create the illusion of a waist.

The Hour Glass Shape

People with this body type have equal hip and bust measurements with a narrow waist; if you’re one of the lucky few with this body type, dress to flatter – not flatten your beautiful curves. Your shape is all about tastefully showing off those curves: not too baggy, not too tight.

No matter your body type, making your legs look longer is generally flattering!

To the Early Beginners who took my very first 24 pieces of T-Shirts, didn’t pay for them but rocked them with pride and spread the word about NACK to everybody in Covenant University… I thank you.

For family who bought an item of NACK for 2k and rocked it like it was 10k and told everyone they knew about the brand… I thank you.

For my pals that paid 1500 instead of 2k and told everyone they got it for 3k and rocked it like they bought it for 10k… Na gode.

To my hommies, who never bought NACK but told everyone who cared to know that they were co-owners of NACK and sold more NACK T-shirts that I can count… I am very grateful.

To my blood, who spent all the money they had to buy every NACK Kullection; so much so that they may have more NACK than me… I celebrate you!

To all the Covenant University peeps (not some, ALL) who may not have a piece from NACK bur have made referrals… I thank you!

To the total stranger that never knew me but NACKs for the Love of NACK… you are a catalyst to my hope because I know you own all the biggest and finest fashion brands in the world but you still choose to NACK… Ose ga’an.

To the man who saw an early Kullection in 2007 and bought 2 pieces for himself, his wife, his five kids, niece, househelp and almost for his dogs… and paid 30% more just to show support… I will always love you sir (Engr Akinpeloye)

And to you… that have been with me from the very start! You bought a NACK because you could identify the culture, you could see the movement and you were willing to be a part of it. Because to you, the price wasn’t the issue… the love of NACK was… I love You.

I only have words and even if I spoke a million of them, they wouldn’t be enough to express my appreciation. So come celebrate with us as we continue our journey to perfection.

Tyra Banksnaomi-campbell-

Being the two most famous African-American Victoria secret’s top models of their era, one would have expected a more mutual beneficial relationship that would see them inspire a generation of black models not only in America but also in Africa and across the globe.

The new Campbell’s modeling competition TV show, “The Face,” has sparked up interest in their unconvincing relationship, and on Sunday’s episode, Campbell made a huge attempt to lay the suspicion to rest.

Campbell went on to prove her love for Banks by choosing to marry the “ANTM” host in a game of Kill, F—, Marry, although she did not hesitate to “kill” Heidi Klum, so perhaps we’ve been focusing on the wrong feud all these years?
