Why Do People Like Bad News?

Posted: June 3, 2013 in Uncategorized

If I ask you which you prefer, bad news or good news, you will quickly say “good news” with confidence and assurance. I do not doubt the fact that you actually believe what you are saying. The sad truth is people like hearing bad news about other people but good news for themselves. This can be easily aligned to the fact that “the heart of man is desperately wicked”, but I would not base my discussion on that.

So you might ask me why I have come to this assumption or conclusion. This is why!

Personally as a person we all want to feel needed or useful, in our homes to our love ones and professionally to our colleagues or bosses. When do we get to render a helping hand? This is when the need arises. You do not get the opportunity to “show yourself” as either a good friend, or partner or person in general if the opportunity for your assistance doesn’t arise. At least that’s how people think and see things.

So people like hearing bad news. But not too bad that they have to inconvenience themselves like render their homes for uncertain periods or give constant money. 😀
